Welcome
to our 32nd season!
After a very successful
June trip to the Sing a Mile High International Choral
Festival in Denver, Colorado, the EMSB Chorale is now
preparing to start its 32nd season of glorious music-making.
Rehearsals for the 2011-2012 season start on Saturday,
September 10 at Westmount Park School (Auditorium). We look
forward to seeing many returning members and to welcoming
new members as well. The EMSB Chorale welcomes motivated
students who show musical aptitude and vocal potential.
Girls and boys with unchanged voices from Grade 4 to
Secondary V who attend EMSB schools are invited to audition
throughout September. Students from outside the EMSB are
also considered for membership. Share your passion for
music-making with an award-winning choir! The choir offers
exceptional musical training and opportunities to develop
the singing voice, enhance language and auditory skills,
memory, discipline and self-confidence, perform the best
classical and multicultural choral literature, work with
professional musicians, perform in Montreal’s top concert
venues, participate in music camps and tours and make new
friends who share a love of music.

Late-breaking announcement: The
Mysterious Jacket Mix-Up!
If your daughter or a friend or relative’s
daughter came home from the EMSB Chorale
concert on Saturday, December 10 with a
purple winter jacket that seemed to have
shrunk down two sizes, it is probably
because you/she took home Maya
Cozier-Lefebvre’s coat by mistake. Maya
ended up with what she thought was her coat
but a couple of sizes too big! (She was one
of the last to leave the church.)

Holiday Concert a Resounding Success!!
Congratulations to all the members of the
EMSB Chorale and their musical guests for a
very successful Holiday Concert on December
10. The capacity crowd at Mountainside
United Church enjoyed the festive mix of
sacred and secular music for Christmas and
Hanukkah and gave generously for the
Salvation Army’s Christmas Campaign. A total
of $1,900 was collected, very
appropriate since it was the 19th year in a
row that the EMSB Chorale offered up its
Holiday Concert as a benefit for the
Salvation Army. Choristers now get a
well-deserved break and will resume
rehearsal on Saturday, January 7.
Conductor Pat Abbott will be sending out the
December newsletter in the coming week.
